THE METHOD

The Fletcher Method

At Pilates 4 You, every session is rooted in the Fletcher Pilates® method — a breath-centered approach designed to bring more precision, control, and awareness to the way you move.

Fletcher Pilates®

and the Role of Breath

Most Pilates practices underemphasize breath. The Fletcher method makes it central.

Developed by Ron Fletcher — a student of Joseph Pilates himself — this approach adds a structured breath component that deepens the effectiveness of every movement.

Robin is trained and certified in this method, which shapes how she teaches every session.

Fletcher Pilates adds breath work not commonly emphasized elsewhere. This additional element results in a more complete experience for the Pilates student.

— Ron Fletcher

The Fletcher Method

In body, breath, mind, and spirit, the Fletcher method preserves and advances the inspired evolution of Body Contrology — the work of Joseph Pilates as articulated by first-generation Pilates teacher Ron Fletcher.

The Fletcher Pilates Program of Study is one of the most comprehensive and definitive Pilates educational programs of its kind. It derives from the physical conditioning method developed by Joseph and Clara Pilates in the 1920s and expands to include its evolution and interpretation by Ron Fletcher.

Fletcher’s development of his trademarked Floorwork and Towelwork repertoire allowed for machine-less sessions that could be performed in a studio, home, or workshop setting. This innovation helped support the popularity and growth of the Pilates method.

Fletcher Pilates® adds a structured breath component not commonly emphasized in other forms of Pilates practice. This additional element helps create a more complete experience for the Pilates student.

At Pilates 4 You, the Fletcher method shapes every session through breath, precision, alignment, and thoughtful movement — helping clients move with more strength, balance, and grace.

Pilates Instructor And Owner

Fletcher Pilates® Certified Instructor

Licensed Massage Therapist since 1984

40+ years in rehabilitative bodywork

Private · Duet · Small Group

Robin Bird began her work in body care as a licensed massage therapist in 1984, specializing in rehabilitation, stretching, and improving range of motion. Over years of helping others, the physical demands of that work began to take a toll on her own body — and it was Pilates that helped her recover.

What started as her own rehabilitation became a calling. Robin spent more than 20 years as a Pilates student before training formally as an instructor, specializing in the Fletcher Pilates method — an approach that places special emphasis on breath work alongside movement.

"I consider it a privilege to make a difference in the lives of others."

Her background is genuinely rare: most Pilates instructors come from dance or fitness. Robin comes from rehabilitative bodywork. That difference shows in how she teaches — she thinks in terms of what your body needs to heal and function, not just how a movement should look.

Robin welcomes clients of all ages and experience levels, from complete beginners to those managing chronic pain, or age-related changes in strength and balance.

When she's not in the studio, you might find Robin in her garden or on a bike ride with a good audiobook.
